Home Front is a book

If you are in the mood for a light/fun/frilly read do not pick up this book. I honestly wasn't prepared for the emotions that it threw at me. I was laughing, I was crying {which was a little awkward since I was listening to it at my desk at work}, I was emotionally wrung by the time the book was over. Home Front is a book that sticks with you for a long time after you are done reading/listening to it. I loved the book. I have known military families that have fallen apart after the soldier returned. I couldn't imagine the insanity that a soldier has seen after war. I only know stories from my grandpa that he would actually share…so much of his experience went to the grave with him. Joleen's experiences in Iraq were, without giving away spoilers, unreal, though I know that they were so very, very real for many soldiers. The family dynamic before and after Iraq were so heartbreaking and realistic. I felt so much compassion for everything that Michael and Joleen went through. The book was extremely emotional…yes I know I said that already, but it's true. Overall, it was fabulous. A definite must-read/listen to. For being my first audiobook, the only thing I thought was a little odd was when the author went into the descriptiveness of a scene it felt like too much…but it didn't take away from the story.
